Hey folks! Second blog post...
Happy new year everyone! We've been starting to write our new album over the break. We're so thrilled about how its going so far. I think we're finally figuring out how to write songs we really really like. We're learning some new covers too, I think they'll be so fun to play live.
I added the like buttons to the blog post today, and updated the calendar! We're super excited to be playing the SLC Warped show on the 23rd, I hope we see some of y'all there.
Recently we as a band have been talking a lot about what concept albums are and how good ones are made. We've decided there's more of a sliding scale, from albums that are a random collection of songs thrown together to albums that are basically musical soundtracks. Some albums have loose stories, some have a cohesive vibe or a world behind them without having a strong narrative, etc. "Concept album" is such a vague category honestly. I think the best concept albums are ones that don't explain the story 100% so that you can fill in your own ideas, but the feelings are there. The music still conveys the feelings and emotions of the story even if not every detail of the background plot is in the lyrics.
